With a voice likened to Jeff Buckley and technique that is the guitarist’s envy, Elden Kelly has captivated audiences across the country with his virtuosic songwriting. Influenced by such diverse genres as jazz, neoclassicism, American Roots, Hindustani and Turkish music, Kelly proves impossible to pigeonhole. Described as the next generation’s young guitar virtuoso, singer-songwriter, and global fusion stylist, Elden can provide a whole season’s worth of music in one evening. Kelly’s solo act wants for nothing thanks to his skillful contrapuntal performance on guitar, which simulates the harmonies, lines and rhythms that often require a larger ensemble to create. Kelly graduated from Boston’s prestigious New England Conservatory of Music with a degree in Contemporary Improvisation and accepted a full scholarship and teaching assistantship at Michigan State University with Rodney Whitaker, earning a graduate degree in Ethnomusicology. In addition to Elden’s mind blowing performances on the guitar, audiences will also be delighted to witness Elden’s vocal skills on his own compositions and various instruments such as the Arabic oud, the Turkish cumbus and the Glissentar; an 11-string fretless guitar. Available as a solo act, duo, trio or full band; Global Roots Jazz Collective.
